I didn’t watch the #MissUniverse pageant but I caught a clip of Steve Harvey’s error. Here’s my take as a National Ambassador and someone who’s done LIVE television. I know this is not a curse but a blessing in disguise for this young lady (#MissColombia) and shows the character of Steve Harvey.
Before I touch on the blessing in this, let me say Steve is human and those of you who make the same mistakes in other areas of your lives but no spotlight or live TV to deal with, bless you. It’s not as easy as it looks to host an event, better yet a LIVE television event. As you can see there’s no rewind but just an excuse me or I apolpgize. I believe the way he handled it was extremely classy.
How many of you apologize in the moment when you’ve hurt someone or made a Godawful decision? I’ll wait but venture to say, not many.
He could’ve easily hid behind the bigwigs of the pageant circuit and allowed a general apology to be issued; you know the kind companies issue to say “we” sincerely apologize about the mistake. You’ve seen them plenty of times before. Did they move you or just resemble “the right thing to do?” What he chose to do was be a man of integrity no matter what the public backlash would be, and stand accountable for his actions.
How many of you would just apologize behind closed doors but wouldn’t dare righting the wrong publicly? I mean you publicly humiliated or hurt someone yet they’re to accept your private apology.
Before you condemn the man, be honest in how you would’ve truly handled it – in real life not your PC answer. Before you feel sorry for Miss Columbia, I’ll give you something to chew on:
She better get on it and ride this MONEY wave – timing is everything. Steve just helped her with the ultimate come up: book deals, hosting, exclusive interviews, a show of her own, guest appearances, etc. She needs to book a meeting with the queen of turning negatives into positives, Kris Jenner! All of her money is hers and not tied to representing a pageant and doing it a certain way, per contract. She also won’t have the same time committments; hence having the ability to start her own business and build her brand as she sees fit. A good PR company is going to snatch her up and put that 3 minutes of humiliation to some good use and coins! Trust me. She did a backstage video 10 minutes after the unfortunate incident, she knows what this can mean for her career. The only thing stopping her from capitalizing on it is her. The only way this won’t be more is if she desires for it not to be.
She will be alright and so will all the perfect people of the world who desire to behead Steve Harvey.
